It Didn’t Work

Recently, a small prestige beauty brand sent its latest product to my office (I will keep the name to myself). I brought the product home and tried it. I pushed the dispenser and nothing came out. I pumped harder. Nothing. In frustration, I ripped the top off and poured way too much of it into my hands. Most of it dripped down the tub and into the drain.

The shame of it was that the product was excellent. When I finally got around to applying it, it did what it said it was going to do. I noticed immediate results. But because of the packaging, I will not be a customer.

The moral of the story? Your packaging suppliers must be as committed to quality as you are. It isn’t all about looks either. A package that improperly dispenses, breaks, or performs badly in any way is enough to turn off a customer for life.

In this issue, we publish our 2006 Buyers’ Guide edition. We’ve done our best to compile the most current list of suppliers to the beauty industry. We’ve divided the guide into two sections: a category listing and a company listing. Use this as your resource as you search for packaging partners. Choose with care.

Best Regards,
